After my recent post calling for brides-and-grooms-to-be to evaluate whether or not they should get married, I wanted to make it clear that I think marriage is a wonderful thing. For the right people! If you’re stumped for a stand-out gift to present to the special couple in your life that will soon be heading down the aisle, here are 5 clever ideas!
1. Practical can be sexy. It’s all in the presentation! A fire extinguisher – especially for the couple moving into a new place – is one of those practical items that we all need but don’t buy for ourselves. Click on the picture to check out this idea from Sunburst Gifts with the gift card that turns the ordinary into a perfect gift!
2. Make it personal. With this self-inking stamp the happy couple announce over and over again their new status.
3. A fun way to say hello to their new life. This custom doorknocker notes the year of ‘establishment’ while it welcomes friends!
4. A gift with room to grow. This Puzzle of Life can be bought a piece at a time or a in a themed ‘starter set’ with 3-4 pieces.
5. For the gift that keeps on giving. Whether the newlyweds are peanut butter and jelly fans, coffee lovers or avid golfers, there’s a “Month Club” to fit the bill! Most plans have options for 3, 6, 9 or 12 month gift options.

I think the self-inking stamps are sooo cute! Perfect for newlyweds!
I love giving something that can actually be used! And speaking of gifts perfect for newlyweds, I liked that etched glass frame that you recently had on your site, Diana. I’m going to put the link here in case others would like to check it out: http://www.sunburstgifts.org/wedding/love-connection-etched-glass-wedding-gift/
What unusual, thoughtful gifts, Shel! The most creative and necessary gifts we’ve done included the fire extinguisher with a carbon monoxide detector; and when our neighbor’s daughter and her groom were leaving for teaching jobs in Alaska, we joined with three other couples and as a weeding gift we bought them 4 new high quality snow tires.
I bet those tires sure were appreciated, Marylin! I also liked your idea of chipping in with others to cover something bigger than one would want to (or is able to) spend by themselves.
You’re a very thoughtful giver Marylin. You rock!
Love the fire extinguisher idea.
Can’t think of a better gift for new homeowners either – less the racy card, of course!
I actually have two weddings to attend (so far) this summer. I like the “hot” fire extinguisher gift. Thanks for the fun ideas!
As writers we should know the difference words can make, but I was still surprised how a zippy card turned the mundane into oh-so-appropriate! Have a great week, Peggi!
Very unique gift ideas, Shel. As an avid puzzler, I love that idea! I also like the fire extinguisher idea. That reminds me, I’ve been meaning to purchase one.
Enjoy your weekend!
I can see the “Puzzle of Life” eventually turning into a wall mural – better than a charm bracelet! While you’re shopping for necessities like a fire extinguisher, don’t forget a carbon monoxide detector if you don’t already have one!
